Vince Ray – Lowbrow Art Meets Rock 'n' Roll

Welcome to the electrified world of Vince Ray, where lowbrow art meets rock 'n' roll. Flaming hot rods, skulls, Valentine's Day cards, guitars, and vampish women are all part of the rockabilly imagery that Vince has developed over the years, making him ideal for projects with retro appeal. In addition to his illustration work, Vince is a popular figure in the lowbrow art scene, and his work is highly sought after in the music industry. He builds guitars for companies like Fender and has his own line of guitar strings and Screaming Zombie picks.

He is based in Hastings and is passionate about his 1950s car and motorcycle designs and the scene that surrounds them. Vince holds a BA in Fine Art Printing from Maidstone School of Art and then attended the Slade School in London for an MA. Vince loves working with Photoshop. Each piece begins with a black and white line drawing, and after scanning, the complete image is assembled on the computer. He also still enjoys painting with acrylics on canvas. Vince's style falls into the category of lowbrow art. He draws inspiration from old retro graphic styles, tattoos, sign lettering, fairground graphics, old horror comics, and Americana.
