Bolotie Indian Ornament - with decorations
With turquoise Chip Inlay
Chip inlay refers to a method developed by Native American silversmiths to inlay silver jewelry with crushed stones, such as Turkish chips. The inlays are mainly made of stones that are not usable for other purposes but are too precious to be thrown away. The more or less coarsely ground stones, mainly turquoise, coral, lapis lazuli and, more recently, synthetic opals, are glued into a bed of synthetic resin and, after hardening, cut and polished.
